Hikoya: The Science Fair

Unit so'zlari matnda ajratib ko'rsatilgan. Gapni bossangiz, hikoya shu gapdan o'qiladi.

At the school science fair, the club wants to show how bacteria grow on bread. Aziz brings a dozen slices from home, and Dilya labels each one with a date. Sam is puzzled by the green spots on the oldest slice, and he slaps his forehead. "It looks bizarre," he says. "It is like a tiny forest!" Mr. Brown smiles and reminds him that good science needs patience.

Soon a quarrel starts at the next table. Two boys argue about whose experiment is better, and one of them makes an offensive remark. Mr. Brown calms them down. "A fair is not a battle," he says. "Please apologize and try to integrate your two ideas into one project." The boys shake hands and happily return to work.

Later, a little girl clings to her mother's hand and asks about the bread. Dilya explains that bacteria are everywhere, even on our hands. Anvar finds a card about a scientist who spent his whole fortune on research to reduce human suffering. Subsequently, the judges visit the club's table and give it second prize. Sam prays that nobody will smell the bread.

O'zbekcha tarjimasi

Maktab ilm-fan ko'rgazmasida klub nonda bakteriyalar qanday o'sishini ko'rsatmoqchi. Aziz uydan o'n ikkita non bo'lagini olib keladi, Dilya esa har birining ustiga sanani yozib qo'yadi. Sem eng eski bo'lakdagi yashil dog'lardan boshi qotib, peshonasiga uradi. «G'aroyib ko'rinadi», deydi u. «Xuddi kichkina o'rmonga o'xshaydi!» Mr. Brown jilmayib, yaxshi fan sabr talab qilishini eslatadi.

Tez orada yonidagi stolda janjal boshlanadi. Ikki bola qaysining tajribasi yaxshiroq ekanini bahslashadi, ulardan biri haqoratli gap aytadi. Mr. Brown ularni tinchlantiradi. «Ko'rgazma jang emas», deydi u. «Iltimos, uzr so'rang va ikki g'oyangizni bitta loyihaga birlashtirishga harakat qiling». Bolalar qo'l berib ko'rishadi va xursandchilik bilan ishga qaytadi.

Keyinroq kichkina qiz onasining qo'lidan yopishib olib, non haqida so'raydi. Dilya bakteriyalar hamma yerda, hatto qo'limizda ham borligini tushuntiradi. Anvar butun boyligini odamlar azobini kamaytiradigan tadqiqotlarga sarflagan olim haqidagi kartochkani topadi. Keyinchalik hakamlar klub stoliga kelib, unga ikkinchi o'rinni beradi. Sem hech kim nonning hidini sezmasligi uchun ibodat qiladi.
