Hikoya: The Model Parliament

Unit so'zlari matnda ajratib ko'rsatilgan. Gapni bossangiz, hikoya shu gapdan o'qiladi.

Mr. Brown announces a model parliament in the school hall. The topic of the debate is planting more trees in the city. A poster on the wall lists fundamental rights, including the freedom to worship, and Mr. Brown reads it aloud to remind everyone that every voice matters. Aziz will portray the prime minister, Dilya leads the opposition, and Sam is the speaker of the parliament.

The rehearsal starts on Wednesday. Sam secretly practices his speech in the bathroom, and Anvar worries about the workload: he has three tests and a speech. The weather is gloomy, and nobody feels strong. Mr. Brown gives them a boost with a short story. "Debate is interaction, not a fight," he says. "Never insult your opponent, even as a joke."

On the day of the debate, the hall is full of sympathetic listeners. Dilya argues that trees give oxygen and cool the streets. Aziz's speech is surprisingly funny. Sam, who is nervous, pinches his arm to stay calm. In the end, the parliament votes for the plan, and the school plants twenty trees.

O'zbekcha tarjimasi

Mr. Brown maktab zalida namunaviy parlament e'lon qiladi. Munozara mavzusi — shaharda ko'proq daraxt ekish. Devordagi plakatda asosiy huquqlar, jumladan, sig'inish erkinligi sanalgan, Mr. Brown esa har bir ovoz muhimligini eslatish uchun uni baland ovozda o'qiydi. Aziz bosh vazir rolini o'ynaydi, Dilya muxolifatni boshqaradi, Sem esa parlament spikeri bo'ladi.

Repetitsiya chorshanba kuni boshlanadi. Sem nutqini yashirincha hammomda mashq qiladi, Anvar esa ish hajmidan xavotirda: uning uchta testi va bitta nutqi bor. Havo mung'ayib va hech kim o'zini kuchli his qilmayapti. Mr. Brown qisqa hikoya bilan ularga ruh bag'ishlaydi. «Munozara — o'zaro ta'sir, urush emas», deydi u. «Raqibingizni hech qachon, hatto hazil tarzida ham, haqorat qilmang».

Munozara kuni zal hamdard tinglovchilarga to'la. Dilya daraxtlar kislorod berishini va ko'chalarni salqin qilishini isbotlaydi. Azizning nutqi ajablanarlisi kulgili chiqadi. Hayajonlangan Sem xotirjam bo'lish uchun qo'lini chimchilaydi. Oxirida parlament rejaga ovoz beradi va maktab yigirmata daraxt ekadi.
