Hikoya: Sam's Fame

Unit so'zlari matnda ajratib ko'rsatilgan. Gapni bossangiz, hikoya shu gapdan o'qiladi.

At the school's spring festival, the old tradition is a pie-eating contest. Sam falls with his face into a chocolate pie, and when he stands up, his face is black as coal. Everybody is amazed, and then everybody laughs. Someone films the incident, and by the evening the video is online.

The next morning, the crash of the school website is the first sign of Sam's fame. Reporters invade the yard, and a foreign journalist needs someone to interpret. Dilya helps, and she translates Sam's informal answers into English. When the journalist asks about the pie, Sam says it was precisely the right size for his face.

By the evening, Sam enjoys his fame, but Dilya gives him a subtle hint. "Fame is only one aspect of life," she says, "and it fades quickly." Sam owes Aziz a favour, because Aziz stayed in the library to finish their essay before the deadline. Sam promises to bring Aziz a chocolate pie. Likewise, he promises Anvar one. Both of them reply, "Not chocolate, please!"

O'zbekcha tarjimasi

Maktabning bahor bayramida eski an'ana — pirog yeyish musobaqasi. Sem yuzi bilan shokoladli pirogga yiqiladi va o'rnidan turganda yuzi ko'mirdek qora bo'ladi. Hamma hayratda qoladi, keyin hamma kuladi. Kimdir hodisani suratga oladi va kechqurun video internetda paydo bo'ladi.

Ertasi ertalab maktab saytining ishdan chiqishi Semning shuhratidan birinchi darak bo'ladi. Muxbirlar hovliga bostirib kiradi, chet ellik jurnalistga esa tarjimon kerak. Dilya yordam beradi va Semning norasmiy javoblarini ingliz tiliga og'zaki tarjima qiladi. Jurnalist pirog haqida so'raganda, Sem u aynan uning yuziga mos kattalikda ekanini aytadi.

Kechga kelib Sem shuhratdan zavqlanadi, lekin Dilya unga nozik ishora qiladi. «Shuhrat hayotning faqat bir jihati», deydi u, «va u tez so'nadi». Ikkalasi ham: «Faqat shokoladli bo'lmasin!» deb javob beradi.
