Hikoya: The Young Drummer

Unit so'zlari matnda ajratib ko'rsatilgan. Gapni bossangiz, hikoya shu gapdan o'qiladi.

The school orchestra receives a special invitation: to play at the city arena on Independence Day. Then bad news arrives. The main drummer has a serious illness and cannot play. Anvar must take his place, and he has only two weeks to learn the music. He practises wherever he goes, even on the bus seat and on the dinner table.

At home, there is strong opposition. His mother forbids him to play after nine o'clock, and the neighbours say that the loud noise is harmful to their sleep. Anvar isolates himself in the old garden shed, where nobody can hear him. The weather is nasty, with wind and rain, but he drums every evening. His fingers become painful, so Dilya brings him soft bandages.

On the great day, thousands of citizens fill the arena. Anvar fastens the big drum to his chest and takes a deep breath. When the last note ends, applause erupts like thunder. His father's face is full of pride. "This is a real achievement," says Mr. Brown, "for you and for the school."

O'zbekcha tarjimasi

Maktab orkestri maxsus taklif oladi: Mustaqillik kunida shahar arenasida chiqish qilish. Keyin yomon xabar keladi. Asosiy nog'orachi og'ir kasal va o'ynay olmaydi. Anvar uning o'rnini egallashi kerak, musiqani o'rganishga esa atigi ikki haftasi bor. U qayerga bormasin mashq qiladi: hatto avtobus o'rindig'ida va kechki ovqat stolida ham.

Uyda qattiq qarshilik bor. Onasi unga soat to'qqizdan keyin chalishni taqiqlaydi, qo'shnilar esa baland shovqin uyqulariga zararli ekanini aytadi. Anvar o'zini eski bog' kulbasida ajratib oladi, u yerda uni hech kim eshitmaydi. Ob-havo yoqimsiz: shamol va yomg'ir, lekin u har kecha nog'ora chaladi. Barmoqlari og'riy boshlaydi, shuning uchun Dilya unga yumshoq bint olib keladi.

Katta kun minglab fuqarolar arenani to'ldiradi. Anvar katta nog'orani ko'kragiga mahkamlab, chuqur nafas oladi. Oxirgi nota tugagach, qarsaklar momaqaldiroqdek otilib chiqadi. Otasining yuzi g'ururga to'la. «Bu haqiqiy yutuq», deydi Mr. Brown, «sen uchun ham, maktab uchun ham».
