Hikoya: The Zoo Debate

Unit so'zlari matnda ajratib ko'rsatilgan. Gapni bossangiz, hikoya shu gapdan o'qiladi.

On Friday, the club holds a school debate about zoos. The topic is: "Animals are happier in zoos than in nature." Mr. Brown is the judge, and Mrs. Nilufar, an experienced biology teacher, sits next to him. He asks the speakers to distinguish facts from opinions and to clarify every difficult word.

Aziz and Anvar speak against zoos. Aziz shows a turtle shell and explains how evolution has made turtles perfect for life in the wild. Anvar says that animals are sensitive, and a small cage cannot give them comfort. Then Dilya tells a sad story about a young turtle that almost drowned in a river full of plastic. "In a crisis," she says, "a good zoo can be a safe home."

Sam is the last speaker. He tightens his belt like a real lawyer and shows a photo of a cute baby panda. "Besides, zoos have food and doctors," he says. Basically, both teams have good arguments, and Mrs. Nilufar says that Dilya's story gives a new angle to the debate. In the end, the judge declares a draw, and everybody claps.

O'zbekcha tarjimasi

Juma kuni klub maktabda hayvonot bog'lari haqida munozara o'tkazadi. Mavzu: «Hayvonlar tabiatdagiga qaraganda hayvonot bog'ida baxtliroq». Mr. Brown hakam bo'ladi, uning yonida esa tajribali biologiya o'qituvchisi Nilufar xonim o'tiradi. U so'zlovchilardan faktlarni fikrlardan farqlashni va har bir qiyin so'zni tushuntirib berishni so'raydi.

Aziz va Anvar hayvonot bog'lariga qarshi chiqadi. Aziz toshbaqa chig'anog'ini ko'rsatib, evolyutsiya toshbaqalarni yovvoyi tabiatda yashashga qanday mukammal qilib yaratganini tushuntiradi. Anvar hayvonlar sezgir ekanini va kichik qafas ularga farovonlik bera olmasligini aytadi. Keyin Dilya plastikka to'la daryoda deyarli cho'kib ketgan yosh toshbaqa haqida qayg'uli voqea aytib beradi. «Inqiroz paytida», deydi u, «yaxshi hayvonot bog'i xavfsiz uy bo'la oladi».

Sem oxirgi so'zlovchi. U haqiqiy advokatdek kamarini mahkamlab, yoqimtoy yosh panda suratini ko'rsatadi. «Ustiga-ustak, hayvonot bog'ida ovqat ham, shifokorlar ham bor», deydi u. Aslida ikkala jamoaning ham yaxshi dalillari bor, Nilufar xonim esa Dilyaning hikoyasi munozaraga yangi burchak beradi, deydi. Oxirida hakam durang e'lon qiladi va hamma qarsak chaladi.
