Hikoya: A Shelter for a Bird

Unit so'zlari matnda ajratib ko'rsatilgan. Gapni bossangiz, hikoya shu gapdan o'qiladi.

On a rainy Monday, Dilya finds a small bird under a bench at the bus stop. The creature has a broken feather and trembles with cold. Dilya is anxious. "We need a shelter," she says. "Right now." The bus shelter is old-fashioned and has holes in the roof, so the friends take the bird to the club room.

Anvar and Aziz decorate a shoe box with paper stars, and Sam adds a soft sock. "It is an old trick from my grandmother," he says. Mr. Brown calls a colleague, Mrs. Nilufar, who teaches biology. She is generous with her time and comes in ten minutes. She does not criticize the box. "It is lovely," she says, "but the bird needs warm water and quiet."

Nevertheless, the bird does not eat at first. Mrs. Nilufar tells the friends to revise the rules of bird care at home. Sam tries to pronounce the Latin name of the species, and everybody laughs. After three days, the bird eats from Dilya's hand. Her delight is huge. When it flies away, the friends feel a little sad. "The club room is ours," says Sam, "but the sky is the bird's."

O'zbekcha tarjimasi

Yomg'irli dushanba kuni Dilya avtobus bekatidagi o'rindiq tagida kichkina qushni topadi. Jonzotning pari singan va u sovuqdan titraydi. Dilya xavotirda. «Bizga boshpana kerak», deydi u. «Hozir». Bekatdagi shiypon eskicha va tomida teshiklar bor, shuning uchun do'stlar qushni klub xonasiga olib boradi.

Anvar va Aziz poyabzal qutisini qog'oz yulduzchalar bilan bezaydi, Sem esa yumshoq paypoq soladi. «Bu buvimdan o'rgangan eski hiyla», deydi u. Mr. Brown hamkasbi, biologiyadan dars beradigan Nilufar xonimga qo'ng'iroq qiladi. U vaqtini ayamaydi va o'n daqiqada keladi. U qutini tanqid qilmaydi. «Chiroyli», deydi u, «lekin qushga iliq suv va sokinlik kerak».

Shunga qaramay, qush dastlab hech narsa yemaydi. Nilufar xonim do'stlarga qush parvarishi qoidalarini uyda takrorlashni aytadi. Sem turning lotincha nomini talaffuz qilishga harakat qiladi va hamma kuladi. Uch kundan keyin qush Dilyaning kaftidan don yeydi. Uning quvonchi cheksiz. Qush uchib ketganda, do'stlar biroz xafa bo'ladi. «Klub xonasi bizniki», deydi Sem, «lekin osmon qushniki».
