Hikoya: Who Owns the Cup?

Unit so'zlari matnda ajratib ko'rsatilgan. Gapni bossangiz, hikoya shu gapdan o'qiladi.

A shiny silver cup stands in the school hall, and two classes both say that it is theirs. The school newspaper prints a big headline: "Who Owns the Cup?" The argument soon becomes bitter. A boy from the other class even threatens to take the cup home. Mr. Brown's mood is bad that morning. He takes a deep breath and says, "You ought to talk like friends, not like enemies."

Aziz tries to persuade the angry students to stop. "Our friendship is worth more than a cup," he says. Somebody interrupts him: "It is easy for you to say that!" The anger grows, and Aziz sees the consequence: nobody will speak to anybody for a month. Dilya, however, has a definite plan. "It is my belief that every cup has a story," she says. "Let us find it."

In the library, she finds an old photo of the first winners. At the bottom, there is a date: 1998. Neither class existed then, and the cup belonged to the school's first football team. The students look at the photo in silence. Then someone starts to laugh, and soon everybody laughs. In the end, the cup stays on the shelf with a new sign: "This cup belongs to everybody."

O'zbekcha tarjimasi

Maktab zalida yaltiroq kumush kubok turibdi va ikkala sinf ham uni o'zlariniki, deydi. Maktab gazetasi katta sarlavha bosadi: «Kubok kimniki?» Bahs tez orada achchiqlashadi. Boshqa sinfdan bir bola hatto kubokni uyiga olib ketaman, deb po'pisa qiladi. O'sha ertalab Mr. Brownning kayfiyati yomon. U chuqur nafas olib, deydi: «Siz dushman kabi emas, do'st kabi gaplashishingiz kerak».

Aziz g'azablangan o'quvchilarni to'xtashga ko'ndirishga harakat qiladi. «Bizning do'stligimiz kubokdan qimmatroq», deydi u. Kimdir uning so'zini bo'ladi: «Senga buni aytish oson!» G'azab oshadi va Aziz oqibatini ko'radi: bir oy hech kim hech kim bilan gaplashmaydi. Dilyada esa aniq reja bor. «Mening e'tiqodimcha, har bir kubokning o'z hikoyasi bor», deydi u. «Keling, uni topaylik».

Kutubxonada u birinchi g'oliblarning eski suratini topadi. Pastda sana yozilgan: 1998. U paytda ikkala sinf ham mavjud emas edi, kubok esa maktabning birinchi futbol jamoasiga tegishli bo'lgan. O'quvchilar suratga jim qarab turadi. Keyin kimdir kula boshlaydi va tez orada hamma kuladi. Oxirida kubok yangi yozuv bilan javonda qoladi: «Bu kubok hammaniki».
