Hikoya: The School Newspaper

Unit so'zlari matnda ajratib ko'rsatilgan. Gapni bossangiz, hikoya shu gapdan o'qiladi.

At the start of Book Five, Mr. Brown gives the club a new challenge: to create a school newspaper. "A newspaper is the creation of many individual voices," he says, "so every class needs a representative." Aziz is highly excited and writes a list of topics, including sports, music and school lunch. Dilya, however, feels frustration, because nobody knows how to begin. Mr. Brown suggests a simple approach: each friend writes about the topic he or she knows best.

Sam chooses an unusual subject. He wants to know why fruit starts to rot so quickly in the school kitchen, so he visits the cook. She shows him the supply room, where boxes of apples stand near a warm window. "Heat makes them rot in a few days," she explains. Sam tries to suppress his surprise when she adds that students throw away too much bread. He takes careful notes and promises to write about it.

Meanwhile, Anvar wants an innovative design. He uses colorful tape and a can of spray paint to make a huge title for the first page. Dilya interviews the director and asks for more depth in every answer. On Friday, the friends meet in the library for a spontaneous reading of all the articles. Everybody laughs and claps. "This paper is already better than I expected," says Mr. Brown.

O'zbekcha tarjimasi

Beshinchi kitob boshida Mr. Brown klubga yangi topshiriq beradi: maktab gazetasini yaratish. «Gazeta ko'plab alohida ovozlarning mahsuli», deydi u, «shuning uchun har bir sinfdan vakil kerak». Aziz juda hayajonlanadi va mavzular ro'yxatini yozadi: sport, musiqa va maktab tushligi ham unda bor. Dilya esa ko'ngli to'lmay turadi, chunki hech kim qayerdan boshlashni bilmaydi. Mr. Brown oddiy yo'lni taklif qiladi: har bir do'st o'zi eng yaxshi biladigan mavzu haqida yozadi.

Sem g'alati mavzu tanlaydi. U maktab oshxonasida meva nega tez chiriy boshlashini bilmoqchi va oshpazning oldiga boradi. Oshpaz unga ombor xonasini ko'rsatadi: iliq deraza yonida olma qutilari turibdi. «Issiqda ular bir necha kunda chiriydi», deb tushuntiradi u. Oshpaz o'quvchilar juda ko'p non tashlab yuborishini aytganda, Sem hayratini yashirishga urinadi. U ehtiyotkorlik bilan yozib oladi va bu haqda yozishga va'da beradi.

Shu orada Anvar yangilikka boy dizayn istaydi. U birinchi betdagi ulkan sarlavha uchun rangli lenta va purkagichli bo'yoqdan foydalanadi. Dilya direktordan intervyu oladi va har bir javobda ko'proq chuqurlik so'raydi. Juma kuni do'stlar kutubxonada yig'ilib, hamma maqolalarni o'z-o'zidan boshlangan o'qishda o'qib chiqadi. Hamma kulib, qarsak chaladi. «Bu gazeta allaqachon kutganimdan yaxshi», deydi Mr. Brown.
