Hikoya: The Hill Cottage

Unit so'zlari matnda ajratib ko'rsatilgan. Gapni bossangiz, hikoya shu gapdan o'qiladi.

Ms. Dildora, a young architect, invites the club to see the cottage she is building in the hills. She spreads a large diagram on the table and explains every line. "Honestly," she says, "I cannot tolerate ugly buildings. A home must be beautiful and warm." The cottage has big glass windows, which are fragile, so the workers carry them very carefully.

In the garden, the friends help to build a small wooden cabin for tools. Sam seizes the biggest hammer and hits his thumb instead of the nail. His face is hilarious, and everybody laughs, even Sam. Then he announces that he is starving. Dilya gives him bread, but he blows a bubble with his chewing gum.

At lunch, a village parade passes the cottage, with drums, flags, and children in bright costumes. Sam's sweater has shrunk in the wash, and the sleeves end above his elbows, which is a funny sight. At the end of the day, Ms. Dildora says, "This was a memorable day. Come again when the roof is ready."

O'zbekcha tarjimasi

Yosh me'mor Dildora xonim klubni tepaliklarda qurayotgan kottejini ko'rishga taklif qiladi. U stol ustiga katta chizmani yoyadi va har bir chiziqni tushuntiradi. «Rostini aytsam», deydi u, «men xunuk binolarga toqat qila olmayman. Uy go'zal va iliq bo'lishi kerak». Kottejda katta shisha derazalar bor, ular mo'rt, shuning uchun ishchilar ularni juda ehtiyotkorlik bilan ko'taradi.

Bog'da do'stlar asboblar uchun kichik yog'och uycha qurishga yordam beradi. Sem eng katta bolg'ani ushlab olib, mix o'rniga bosh barmog'iga uradi. Uning yuzi o'ta kulgili, hamma kuladi, hatto Semning o'zi ham. Keyin u ochlikdan o'layotganini e'lon qiladi. Dilya unga non beradi, lekin u saqichidan pufak puflaydi.

Tushlik paytida qishloq parad kottej yonidan o'tadi: nog'oralar, bayroqlar va yorqin liboslardagi bolalar bilan. Semning sviteri yuvilganda qisqarib ketgan va yenglari tirsagidan yuqorida tugaydi, bu kulgili manzara. Kun oxirida Dildora xonim: «Bu esda qolarli kun bo'ldi. Tom tayyor bo'lganda yana keling», deydi.
