Hikoya: The School Council

Unit so'zlari matnda ajratib ko'rsatilgan. Gapni bossangiz, hikoya shu gapdan o'qiladi.

The school council is largely a quiet group, but today it is noisy. The conflict is simple: Sam wants a new football, and Dilya wants to use the autumn fair money to protect wildlife. Mr. Brown sits at the back and watches. He says nothing, because a good council must solve its own problems.

At first, there is continuous noise, and Sam tries to dominate the talk. Dilya, who is reading a book about psychology, asks everybody to speak for one minute. This method is simple but efficient. Aziz says that democracy means everybody has a voice, and the council merely needs to listen.

Finally, the students vote. To Sam's surprise, most hands go up for Dilya's outstanding idea: bird houses that build awareness of nature. Sam congratulates her, though he is not happy. Then a small beetle crawls across the table, and he jumps up. Everyone laughs, and Mr. Brown promises a small football for the school team too. Sam sits down with great satisfaction, and the trouble is over.

O'zbekcha tarjimasi

Maktab kengashi asosan sokin guruh, lekin bugun u shovqinli. Nizo oddiy: Sem yangi futbol to'pi xohlaydi, Dilya esa kuzgi yarmarka pulini yovvoyi tabiatni asrashga sarflamoqchi. Mr. Brown orqada o'tirib kuzatadi. U hech narsa demaydi, chunki yaxshi kengash o'z muammolarini o'zi hal qilishi kerak.

Avvaliga uzluksiz shovqin bo'ladi va Sem suhbatda hukmronlik qilmoqchi bo'ladi. Psixologiya haqida kitob o'qiyotgan Dilya hammadan bir daqiqadan gapirishni so'raydi. Bu usul oddiy, ammo unumli. Aziz demokratiya degani hammaning ovozi borligini bildirishini, kengashga esa shunchaki tinglash kerakligini aytadi.

Nihoyat, o'quvchilar ovoz beradi. Semni hayratga solib, ko'pchilik Dilyaning ajoyib g'oyasi — tabiat haqida xabardorlikni oshiradigan qush uyalari uchun qo'l ko'taradi. Sem uni tabriklaydi, garchi o'zi xursand emas. Shunda stol ustida kichik qo'ng'iz emaklab o'tadi va u sakrab o'rnidan turadi. Hamma kuladi, Mr. Brown esa maktab jamoasiga ham kichik to'p va'da qiladi. Sem katta qoniqish bilan o'tiradi va tashvish tugaydi.
