Hikoya: A Tourist in Samarkand

Unit so'zlari matnda ajratib ko'rsatilgan. Gapni bossangiz, hikoya shu gapdan o'qiladi.

Aziz and Dilya meet a tourist near the Registan in Samarkand. His name is Tom, and he is looking for a toilet. "Without a map, I am lost!" he says. Dilya shows him the way: it is only half a kilometer. Tom is happy. He loves old cities. "I prefer history to football," he says. "And Samarkand has a very long history."

Later, the three of them sit in a small café. When the bill comes, Tom does not have enough cash. "Can I borrow ten dollars?" he asks Aziz. "Of course," says Aziz. At that moment, a cat jumps on the table. Tom wants to throw it a piece of bread, but the waiter says, "Be careful! It is dangerous: that cat bites!" Tom hides behind Dilya.

The cat only wants bread. "It is safe," laughs Dilya. "It is just a hungry cat." Tom is red with shame. The result of the day is simple: one tired tourist, one happy cat and one new rule: "Never waste bread in Samarkand." Tom gives half of his bread to the cat.

O'zbekcha tarjimasi

Aziz bilan Dilya Samarqanddagi Registon yaqinida bir sayyohni uchratadi. Uning ismi Tom, u hojatxona qidirmoqda. «Xaritasiz adashib qoldim!» deydi u. Dilya yo'lni ko'rsatadi: bor-yo'g'i yarim kilometr. Tom xursand. U qadimiy shaharlarni yaxshi ko'radi. «Men tarixni futboldan afzal ko'raman», deydi u. «Samarqandning tarixi esa juda uzun».

Keyinroq uchalasi kichkina kafeda o'tiradi. Hisob kelganda Tomning naqd puli yetmaydi. «Sizdan o'n dollar qarz olsam bo'ladimi?» deb so'raydi u Azizdan. «Albatta», deydi Aziz. Shu payt stolga mushuk sakrab chiqadi. Tom unga bir bo'lak non otmoqchi, lekin ofitsiant aytadi: «Ehtiyot bo'ling! Bu xavfli: o'sha mushuk tishlaydi!» Tom Dilyaning orqasiga yashirinadi.

Mushuk faqat non istaydi. «Bu xavfsiz», deb kuladi Dilya. «Shunchaki och mushuk». Tom uyatdan qizarib ketadi. Kunning natijasi oddiy: bitta charchagan sayyoh, bitta xursand mushuk va bitta yangi qoida: «Samarqandda hech qachon nonni isrof qilmang». Tom nonining yarmini mushukka beradi.
